THANKFUL & SALON 41

Next week I'll post more about Christmas-including photos! But in the meantime I just wanted to say how thankful I am… Not only bc of non material items but bc of some of the gifts I received this year….#1 My parents gave myself, Steve, my sister Ashley & her fiancé' Scott these home made certificates towards our dear family friend Kelly Lewis' wedding in NC this Summer! Kelly is getting married roughly 15 mins away from where my parents are retiring this Spring! SCORE!!! :)…..#2 Again, Im all about the little things….one of our Sales Reps @ work (COX) gave this mug & cookie set the other day as a thank you for all that I do for her! How sweet! It's nice to know when someone appreciates what you do!.........As far as what Steve got me…just to name a few things….A combination Old School Nintendo/Super Nintendo/Sega game system, a portable ipod/radio/CD player, PJs & clothes from Victoria's Secret, make-up stocking stuffers from www.ELF.com & more!!!

Speaking of New Years...tonight we are hanging out w/ a few friends...1 is a dress up gathering & the other is more low key. Ill be rocking turquoise tights! I'm pretty excited about it! I love the look of colorful tights...but when you live in a small town you don't really get much of a chance to dress up, let alone funky! To top off my look I went @ got a quick manicure last night @ Salon 41 which is located pretty much in our backyard. The Salon is named after the Dave Matthews Band song "41" (see lyrics below)...Im not a huge DMB fan (to be honest-Sorry Hila & Bobby!) but the salon's decorations coincide w/ the band! Tons of photos, memorabilia, lyrics written on the wall, vinyl records & more!

BY THE STAIRCASE WITH CARE

This year Steve & I are hosting CHRISTMAS at our house in CT. We are SUPER pumped!!! It will be more low key this year w/ only my parents Roy & Linda, sister Ashley & her fiancé' Scott, BUT I just know it will be super FUN...as always of course! All the other years in the past we have had Christmas @ home in VA, which included my Grandparents, cousins, Aunts, Uncles & close family friends. So I am def a bit sad that we won't be with everyone for the 1st time pretty much ever, but I am really excited to celebrate the holidays on our turf. I am all about the little things, no surprise there, I have blogged about the little things meaning the most many times before. I have a few small festive ideas up my sleeve! Of course I can't share them right now since my Mom (hi Mom!) usually reads my blog on a daily basis. Yah, my Dad too! (hi Dad!)...Oh, I guess my sis does as well! (Hi Ash!)....I can tell you that since we don't have a fireplace I have the perfect lil spot for all of our Christmas stockings. They are all lined up, tied w/ lil bows on the railing of our staircase leading down into our newly finished basement. I've had so much fun putting a plan together! The presents are all wrapped & we pretty much bought out the grocery store, I know I know, it's only going to be the 6 of us on actual Christmas Day, buttttt I just had to have options! ;) Anyway, I just really can't wait until Thurs when the fam starts pouring in! We have a few fun activities, including wine tasting planned while they are here! Since we didn't celebrate Thanksgiving w/ them this year, this is an extra special treat! :) I hope you all have a wonderful holiday! Have fun & be safe!!! HUGS!

CHRISTMAS CARDS

After last year I told myself "I will never procrastinate again"...whelp, that didn't happen. I waited way too long to order our Christmas cards. They JUST arrived yesterday! I sent 1/2 of them out this morning...the other 1/2 will go out tomorrow. Hey, at least they will arrive before Christmas day! Although, it would have been nice for everyone to enjoy them throughout the month of December. Oh well...next year, I promise! Procrastinating is sooo not me!!!

TRINITY BREWHOUSE

Last night Steve & I met his co-workers @ the TRINITY BREWHOUSE (holy yummy Hoisin Chinese Chicken Wings) in Providence before seeing the play. We got there a lil early & sat @ the bar as we waited...As you can see their beers are brewed right before your eyes! Very cool! Had to get some (crappy) phone pics to share! PS: Of course we had a great time! I was SUPER tired when we got home but it was well worth it!

TONIGHT Steve & I are heading out to the Trinity Repertory in Providence w/ his CVS headquarters co-workers for some appetizers & drinks before checking out "A Christmas Carol"! We did this a few years ago & had so much fun! Can't wait for a festive evening!

This past Sunday was a rainy day...sooo we took our friend Felicity's offer up on going to the winery she works @ for some wine tasting! Let me tell you, we had a BLAST!!! Sharpe Hill Vineyard is beautiful! Especially @ Christmas time, the decorations were sooo pretty! And the wine of course was super yummy! Only $10 for a tasting of roughly 12 wines!!! Ritz crackers included! ;)

I saw this DIY (do it yourself) idea in one of my magazines a few months back...I made a mental note about it & thought that I could sooo take this on easily! Then I thought...I could sooo make these for Christmas gifts! I'm going to have no shame in sharing that I purchased 20 two foot black chains from Lowes for roughly $20. I plan on purchasing girly printed ribbons @ a local craft store on Friday to start this crafty task! Heck...maybe if all goes well I'll even sell some on Etsy.com & make some money! Stay tuned for a sneak peak of the outcome.... A MERRY GLEE CHRISTMAS

GLEE's Christmas Special airs tonight!!! I'm such a GLEEK! :) This is probably one of my all time favorite shows! (I love how all the cast members are decked out in their tacky Christmas attire!)
